During the RTB process bids from DSPs have to arrive at the ad exchanges or SSPs between 80 to 120 milliseconds (ms). After an allocation to computation time and (un)expected network congestion, only 40ms is left for the round trip network transit.
In addition, the RTB platform exchanges approximately 465 terabytes of HTTP request data each day between different advertising platforms worldwide. Most of this data is exchanged through non-optimized network routes.
