45% Performance Improvement
Case Study Summary
lengoo, a platform that connects customers with professional translators, works with the users all around the world. Datapath.io solution enables to improve performance from AWS Frankfurt to different countries, resulting in:
- Latency improvement by 45%
- Strong, stable connection between customers in Europe and translators worldwide
- Faster file exchange
lengoo is a marketplace for professional expert translators. Based on language skills and technical expertise, the company’s unique algorithm automatically finds the best-qualified translator for every project. Customers are able to directly communicate with translators, get quotes in real time and manage the projects at the platform.
“lengoo is the easiest way to get high-quality translations of subject specific content. When you uploaded a document, we analyze the content of the document to be translated and find the best-qualified translator based on the translator’s past experience. Within a couple of minutes you are automatically connected to an expert translator and will be able to work with him on the platform – exchange documents, discuss open points and process payments”– that’s how Christopher Kränzler, Managing Director of lengoo, explained the main idea of the service.
lengoo is a powerful service where you can translate documents into more than 50 different languages and 30 industry fields. It means that several hundred translators from many different countries are working on this platform and a good performance from a technical perspective is crucial for the marketplace.
Tobias Nawa, CTO of lengoo, described the challenges that lengoo faced: “Mainly, the users exchange documents on our platform, and those documents can be very large. This document exchange requires a very good performance. Our users live in different countries: our translators are all around the world, and the customers based mostly in Europe. We are using AWS region Frankfurt, and for us it is important to decrease latency from Europe to other countries, making the documents’ exchange faster and increasing the quality of communication between users”.

How Datapath.io solution helped
Datapath.io helps to create a stable connection between lengoo’s servers in Frankfurt AWS-region and users worldwide. The implementation was done into the AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
At the beginning, the setup process was not that easy as usual because for Datapath.io it was the first use case with Elastic Beanstalk:
“The Elastic Beanstalk setup is a default setup, however, it used two subnets, private and public. Private subnets are not accessible from the Internet. That led to the implementation problem because Elastic Beanstalk was not able to connect to the service through Datapath.io. Together with the Datapath.io technical support we found a solution and opened up some other IP-address ranges. After that everything started to work correctly and Elastic Beanstalk connected to the network as usual”, – told us Tobias Nawa, CTO of lengoo.
Datapath.io dynamically changes default BGP routes to the fastest ones, which helps to speed up the lengoo’s service. Due to that, the network latency decreases and the service is able to successfully reach end users.
“As it was already mentioned, we’ve integrated Datapath.io solution into the AWS Elastic Beanstalk. Both solutions are working pretty well for us: it scales up when more users are coming to the platform, and the optimized routes are always the fastest. On average, the performance was improved by 45%”, – Tobias Nawa, CTO of lengoo.
Datapath.io solution could also be valuable for the future business development of lengoo, providing a service for network performance optimization:
“The next big step for us is to expand the supply side of our marketplace by integrating other agencies into our translation ecosystem. Obviously, that will significantly increase the data volume that has to be transferred. I feel that the solution Datapath.io provides will be very helpful in this case”, – said Christopher Kränzler, Managing Director of lengoo.
